Halloween

Halloween is a British, Irish and American festival. It is celebrated on the night of 31 October. Its symbol is the Jack-o-lantern: a pumpkin with a face and a candle inside. People use special clothes at Halloween. They tell ghost stories, have parties and play games.

Halloween is very popular in the USA. Children visit the houses of their neighbours. They wear strange costumes and say 'trick or treat?’ The neighbour then gives them something nice: a sweet or an apple.
